WHY WE INTERRUPTED XENIA FEDOROVA'S BOOK SIGNING AT THE PARIS BOOK FESTIVAL

13 April 2025

Press release from For Ukraine, for their freedom and ours!

Xenia Fedorova's book, prominently featured at the Fayard stand (Bolloré Group), and her media appearances support the imperialist and genocidal aggression against Ukraine. They are not journalism but war propaganda.

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Russia launched another deadly attack on civilians in Sumy, leaving more than thirty dead and dozens injured.

This is the moment that Xenia Fedorova, the voice of her master, chooses to speak again following our action carried out yesterday at the Paris Book Festival, at the initiative of the associations For Ukraine, for their freedom and ours! of the Diderot Committee, of Ukraine Comb'Art, of the French Committee of the European Network of Solidarity with Ukraine, of Russia-Liberties and of Kalyna.

As we presented her with a bloodied teddy bear, a symbol of the atrocities committed against the children, Xenia Fedorova conspicuously stood apart, protected by her press officer and a bodyguard, refusing to answer our questions about the deported children. Where are they? Why aren't they coming home?

Contrary to what she says, if we judge by the number of expressions of solidarity and encouragement received from the public and professionals at the Salon in response to our initiative, this issue remains central to the concerns of advocates for a just peace.

As for the rest of her argument, droned on in yet another post as a zealous representative of the voice of her master Vladimir Putin, there is nothing new about the pseudo-motives of the imperialist and genocidal aggression carried out against Ukraine and sanctioned by the European authorities.

Xenia Fedorova's book and media appearances support the imperialist and genocidal aggression against Ukraine. They are not journalism but war propaganda. There is no symmetry between European sanctions and censorship by Russian authorities: Russia censors opposition to the war, while Europe sanctions Russian media because they support the aggression against a sovereign state and endanger public order and security in the European Union.

In her posts, Xenia Fedorova again confuses freedom of expression and contradiction, which do not exist in Russia, at the risk of a prison sentence or deportation to the penal colonies of Siberia, as was the case for Alexander Skobov, sentenced to 16 years on March 12 for his opposition to the war, with propaganda lies which fall under the law when it promotes the war.

And propaganda kills, that's what we're fighting. Xenia Fedorova is the former France director of Russia Today, which was banned for its lies and hate speech. With the complicity of the Bolloré Group, she's trying to recreate a propaganda channel in France. We won't let her. It's high time she was expelled. What is the government waiting for?
