About the event

Public and political figure, human rights activist,Andrei Sakharov was also the author of the draft Constitution of the USSR and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Although he was one of the creators of the first Soviet hydrogen bomb, Sakharov contributed to the negotiations for nuclear disarmament, opposed the war in Afghanistan and was always a fervent defender of the peace.

The association  "Andrei Sakharov Institute" recently founded in Paris by Lev Ponomarev,  friend and confidant of Sakharov, continues the legacy of this great  man of Peace, Progress and Human Rights and firmly opposes to the atrocious war in Ukraine waged by Russia.

Attendees will  share their memories of the life of an  exceptional scientist, discuss the fate of Russian dissidents in the last century  and in our time, and explain how Andrei's insights can  help solve problems of our time: preserving  peace and preventing the emergence of totalitarian regimes in  democratic countries.

The rally is organized with the support of the associations  Russie-Liberties and For Ukraine, for their freedom and ours.

On this occasion will intervene:  Lev  PONOMAREV, Russian human rights activist, president of the  Andrei Sakharov Institute in Paris and adviser to Andrei Sakharov during the  elections of people's deputies of the USSR.  Alexander CHERKASOV,  Russian human rights defender, Chairman of the Board  of the Memorial Human Rights Center.Nikolai KOBLYAKOV, president of the association Russia-Freedoms  Nadezhda  KUTEPOVA, human rights activist, lawyer, political refugee  Russian in France, member of the board of directors of the associations  Memorial France and Russia-Liberties.
